Youtube: Real Estate Success Principles – Episode 10
🎙️ Building a Business, a Family, and a Legacy — Inside the Journey of Master Advocates
What does it look like when two Real Estate professionals are married, work together, raise young kids, and run a thriving business — all while weathering one of the toughest lockdowns in the world?
That’s exactly what I unpacked in my Real Estate Success Principles podcast episode with Mark and Michelle Errichiello from Master Advocates.
It was a refreshingly honest conversation — no buzzwords, no fluff — just two professionals sharing what it really takes to build a business from the ground up, grow it sustainably, and do it all without compromising their values or their family.
🏠 From Franchise Roots to Independent Brilliance
Mark and Michelle’s journey started in a Raine & Horne Franchise owned by Mark’s father. That family legacy instilled a strong foundation in both of them – not just in the mechanics of property, but in the importance of trust, service, and long-term relationships.
In 2011, they launched Master Advocates – and deliberately went independent. Why? Because they wanted full control over the way they serviced their Clients. No cookie-cutter templates. No big-brand red tape. Just tailored, ethical Real Estate advocacy that puts the Client first.
Today, their business encompasses both Buyer and Vendor advocacy alongside Property Management – and they’ve carved out a reputation across Melbourne and regional Victoria for being smart, agile, and people-first.
🔑 What Exactly Is a Property Advocate?
If you’re not familiar with advocacy in Real Estate, Mark broke it down perfectly.
A Buyer’s advocate helps Clients identify, research, inspect, and purchase the right property — representing only the Buyer, and never the Seller.
A Vendor’s advocate sits on the Seller’s side, helping them choose the best Sales Agent, negotiate fees, monitor campaigns, and ensure their interests are protected throughout the process.
It’s completely independent, with no double-dipping. That clarity of purpose — working for one party only — is what sets true advocacy apart.
As Mark put it: “It’s about removing confusion, stress, and potential conflicts for people making one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.”
👨👩👧👧 Lockdowns, Kinder Homework & Survival Mode
Michelle opened up about what lockdown life really looked like — and trust me, it wasn’t glamorous. With two young daughters at home (four and seven), the couple had to juggle remote learning, kinder worksheets, dinner prep, and running a business in a highly volatile market.
Michelle temporarily stepped back from day-to-day operations to focus on the kids, while Mark kept things moving on the advocacy front. It was a team effort in the truest sense, and a reminder that sometimes, survival is success.
Even now, they remain hands-on. Michelle leads the Property Management arm, while Mark handles Buyer and Vendor advocacy. But when the situation calls for it, they both step up — whether that’s helping with open homes, supporting Rental Providers, or guiding a nervous Buyer.
💡 Martial Arts & Mindset – A Unique Edge
Here’s something you might not expect: Mark has trained in martial arts for most of his life, particularly Aikido – a discipline focused on calmness, energy redirection, and inner clarity.
That mindset bleeds into how he approaches Real Estate. Whether it’s reading a negotiation room, navigating a heated auction, or supporting a stressed-out Client, he’s grounded, present, and focused.
In an industry that often celebrates high energy and fast talking, that calm, measured presence stands out — and Clients respond to it.
🚗 Research Trips = Family Adventures
One of the things I loved most from our chat? How they turn property inspections and regional research trips into mini family getaways. They’ll pack up the car, bring the girls along, support local businesses, and find a way to blend work and life without sacrificing either.
It’s a reminder that success in Real Estate doesn’t have to come at the expense of family, health, or happiness.
💬 Takeaways from the Episode
Here’s what stood out for me – and what might resonate with you too:
- Integrity over income – They refuse to blur ethical lines for short-term wins.
- Adaptability is everything – Especially in a lockdown era.
- Teamwork is the superpower – Both in business and marriage.
- You can build a business that works for you – Not just one that chases numbers.
Whether you’re in Real Estate, a small business owner, or juggling work and family, this episode has something for you.
